| Name: | Ichihara Yuuko |
|---|
journal for Ichihara Yuuko, used for roleplaying on jardin_du_ciel!
Character's Name: Ichihara Yuuko
Series/Fandom: xxxHOLiC. Yeah, I don’t know about the capitals either.
Original/Alternate: OU.
Age: Really damn old?
Gender: Female.
Species: A-a witch!
Appearance: Apart from her noticeable chest, Yuuko is very lanky. Her legs seem to go on forever, she has no hips to speak of, and if we didn’t know better we’d say she was made of flubber. Having extremely long, black hair, doesn’t help the case. Her dark red eyes are half-lidded, making it look like she’s always scheming something or other. Anyway, because she’s so lanky, she makes everything short of running or standing at attention look like she’s lounging. This is handy for when she’s being all mysterious and calculating; this position makes her look unreachable, like you can’t touch her in any way. When she's not being mysterious/melancholic, she is pretty easy to read.
As far as age goes, she looks to be somewhere in her thirties. When out of her uniform, she seems to have a penchant for wearing 'special', probably custom-made, clothes. She has a very strange taste when it comes to that, but she makes it look classy.
Personality: An experience woman, Yuuko knows the importance of relaxing every now and then. So she does. Unfortunately for the people around her, ‘relaxing’ often means ‘picking on people’. And when we say people, we mean Watanuki. When she’s not picking on Watanuki (or any given individual nearby), she’s probably eating or drinking alcohol. This lead to the conclusion that she has a very addictive nature; this is probably due to her past, and her inability to cope with it.
In any case, she usually shows as cheerful, and she’s prone to doing practical jokes that are horribly embarrassing. She has grown good at them over the years. Her nature is like that, upbeat and teasing, to people younger than herself.
To people older than herself, though, she shows another side: a wise, experienced side. A calmer one, where it becomes obvious that she’s not just any old witch—she really knows things. She gets into moods, as well; melancholy moods, where the sake really doesn’t seem to help. She never cries, but if you’d see her in one of those moods, you’d take all of the teasing for granted. Yeah, it’s kind of pitiful.
Of course, she’s still prone to drinking, and when you’re a good friend she’s going to let go of some things and show you both sides. Most of the time, however, these sides are separate.
All in all, Yuuko’s a fun sort, but she also knows that there’s a time and place for all of those things. She’ll know. She always does.
Skills and Abilities: She can do practically anything when it comes to magic, but a lot of the time she needs a payment of sorts to do it. Even when it’s for herself, she has to pay the price. Anyway, you name it, she can do it. Skipping dimensions? Sure. Giving you an ability, or taking it from you? Yeah. Save the world? I guess! A Klondike Bar? Hells yeah.
That, and she does all kind of stuff like true fortune-telling, creating gods, and being overall mystical. As far as combat goes, she has some skill with a katana, but mostly relies on magic, speed, and the element of surprise.
Personal Belongings: A white kimono with a black butterfly pattern; the book (see history), but it’s locked and won’t open; a tin box with all kinds of seemingly useless trinkets.
Duelist Weapon: None.
School Uniform: Well, she’s the nurse, so make that a white nurse outfit! Complete with cap and white shoes and pantyhose. Strangely, however, the buttons keep popping off the front. She’s stopped putting them on.
History: For one, Yuuko forgets when she was young. She rationally knows that something has to have shaped her, and somehow she must have gained experience; but she doesn’t remember.
What she does remember, however, is this: she has always fulfilled wishes. For as long as she can remember, people have come to her with a wish. She would ask for payment, and upon accepting this, she would fulfill their wish. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the only life she ever knew, and she was content doing this. Fulfilling her purpose like that was good.
And she made mistakes, like anyone did, but she managed to establish herself in the magic world all the same; Yuuko, the might Dimension Witch.
No time is ever peaceful, but some of the more peaceful ones lead to the less so; and it happened that she met Clow Reed: A wizard from England, a mighty seer, and above all an annoyance. He latched onto her and didn’t let go.
Like this, they started working together. They were both experienced, but in different ways, and they complimented each other. Together they worked to make preparations for a time when all the world would be in danger, and all they could do was provide the children of that age the means to save all of that. Clow and Yuuko created many things, but the most important were 2 living creatures, made to resemble Mokona-Modoki. One with offensive, one with defensive powers. Yuuko had already settled in a special shop by then, made for the days to come.
She figured they were pretty content together. Her and the Mokonas, and Clow and his cards on the other side of town. They worked together, and, eventually, committed themselves to both their work ánd each other.
Not long after that, Clow told her he was going to die soon. Together they sealed away the Mokonas, went around to making the last preparations, and said their goodbyes. Yuuko, always a bit fast to throw a fit around Clow, refused to accept his death and stopped sleeping. Instead, she wanted to find a way for Clow to stay with her.
But, as it figures, only Clow Reed could get to her like this, and only Clow Reed could convince her that he had to die. She understood, in the end, her stubbornness fading away at last.
She gave him a proper funeral, and went about her ways for some time.
Until Watanuki Kimihiro stumbled in, dragged on by her assistants, and, as always, Fate. She loved him from the first moment on, as he looked around in awe.
Sadly for Watanuki, Yuuko shows her love by never stopping to annoy him, which didn’t exactly endear her to him in the beginning. But she protected him, showed him the importance of keeping one person close, the other far away. But the boy’s morals are strong and he kept everyone close, causing all of them trouble… but it was important that he was that way.
But time went on and Fate isn’t forgetful. Four people visited her shop at the same time, and she sent them on their journey—the journey she and Clow had been preparing for for so long. A fifth, and she grew more solemn. Even Watanuki noticed, but he pretended not to.
In all of this, she found a new place. She’d heard of it—somewhere all universes would come gotether, a hubbub of realities. The people there were mostly charming, and some endeared themselves to her. She fulfilled their wishes as well, sometimes. Involuntarily, she grew close to a select few.
Of course they left. But, with her own world chewing at her state of mind, this place still meant some calm for her.
And then one of her closest friends there left, an android who had lost his own world while traveling to others. She sent him on his search again, pushed him in the right direction, and got a book in return. She was able to follow him through it, reading of his travels.
And then, curiously, the books topped telling her about him. It told her of a strange school, where battles were fought among students, battles for honour, fame, and the power to revolutionise the world.
And then, one night, with a snap, both Yuuko and the book were gone.
